Last week I got to spend the day with Zach and Jody Gray of Gray Photography learning off-camera lighting techniques. I learned so much at their Shooting & Post workshop back in December, so I was so glad when I heard they were coming back to Northern Cali! It's kind of funny (weird, not ha-ha) that the weather totally sucked again for their visit. In San Francisco we braved the rain all afternoon; this time the rain let up, but the wind was blowing like crazy and it was freezing! Oh well, it was still a great time, and Zach and Jody are amazing. I learned a ton, met some awesome fellow photographers, and the stormy weather made for some beautiful skies! This was my first experience with off-camera lighting, and I am simply blown away with the images it created!
Here are a couple of images shot in natural light...
And here are the images, with almost no post-processing whatsoever, captured with the addition of one off-camera light...Super dramatic! It almost looks fake...
Applications are coming in for my senior models... Keep 'em coming! I am seriously so excited for my senior portrait sessions this year! Cool locations, outfit changes for different looks, and I'm even going to have a stylist on hand for hair and makeup... Um, can anyone say "awesome"? In anticipation, and eagerness for warm weather, I've put together some what to wear inspiration for senior girls. Whatever your style is, whether it's preppy or bohemian, urban or sporty, one of the most important things to remember is styling! Don't be boring; accessories are a great way to add interest and put your own personal stamp on the look. And, first and foremost, wear what makes you feel great... If you feel great, you'll look great :)
Again, I'm looking for girls and guys to be my SENIOR MODELS this year! If you or someone you know is interested, head on over to my website to APPLY! Click HERE for more details about my model program!
Janel KG Photography is now officially accepting applications for SENIOR MODELS! These sessions are going to be like personalized fashion shoots... I can't wait to get started! Click here for more information and to fill out an application!
It was a Cinco de Mayo party at Centro Cocina Mexicana. Yesenia swears she was watching the mariachis and didn't notice him, but Matt's friend said she was checking him out from across the room. Matt worked up the nerve to approach her, and she was impressed by his height (Matt is very tall!). They clicked. Done deal. They both knew this was it.
Fast forward to a snowy evening in Lake Tahoe. Matt invited Yesenia to come up to Tahoe for dinner date at Jakes on the Lake. Sitting next to a chilly window with snow falling outside, Yesenia wondered if Matt was getting sick... Why was he sweating? It turns out he was fine, just very nervous. He presented her with a ring and asked her to be his. Forever.
I am simply thrilled to be shooting Yesenia & Matt's wedding this July. We hung out at the Riverbank Marina for their engagement session a couple weeks ago, and had a blast. These two are just so cute together, and seriously hot! Love 'em!
