Monday Mixtape - Boo!

I'm kind of a scaredy-cat.  After being completely terrorized by the movie "Poltergeist" when I was 9 years old, I swore off horror movies for a good long time.  It wasn't until a several years later, at a swim team sleepover, that I was able to enjoy a scary movie... "Nightmare On Elm Street", and that was probably because I was not only surrounded by 30 other kids, but I also didn't want to look like a baby in front of all my peers.  Even the horror movies that are supposed to be funny, like "Child's Play" and "Scream" freak me out.  Trick-or-treating?  Yes.  Carving pumpkins?  Sure.  Hot apple cider?  Yes, please.  "Paranormal Activity 3"?  Hell no!

Michael Jackson - "Thriller"... Yep, this one scared me, too.   Told ya... major scaredy cat!

Bobby Pickett - "Monster Mash"

Whodini - "The Freaks Come Out At Night"

Ray Parker Jr. - "Ghostbusters"

"Halloween" theme song

The Rocky Horror Picture Show - "Time Warp"

Monday Mixtape - Farewell to Jersey

Well, it's time for me to bid farewell to Jersey.  Yes, I am an avid "Jersey Shore" and "Real Housewives of New Jersey" fan, and both of their seasons have come to an end.  No more T-Shirt time, GTL, and shameful displays of public drunkenness.  No more "ingredientses", gold bikinis, and animal-print everything.  It's okay... I'll be alright.  Luckily, I have "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" to ease me through this transition, and those ladies definitely have enough drama going on to make my Monday nights something to look forward to!

Surprisingly, New Jersey has given us a long list of noteable musicians throughout the years:  Frank Sinatra, Dionne Warwick, Connie Francis, The Misfits, Whitney Houston, and, of course, Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen.  Who knew?

And, most recently, Melissa Gorga!  Not necessarily amazing, but this song is totally stuck in my head!
Melissa Gorga - "On Display"

Bon Jovi - "You Give Love A Bad Name"

Bruce Springsteen - "Dancing In The Dark"

Misfits - "Dig Up Her Bones"

Whitney Houston - "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"

Connie Francis - "Who's Sorry Now" - This song reminds me so much of my mom; she had this album and every once in a while we'd pull it out and sing along... I thought my mom had the prettiest voice and should be a professional singer :)

Sunkissed - Sacramento Family Portrait Photographer

Adorable family, beautiful light, and pure sweetness... I could shoot this family every day of the week!  Not only are they super cute, but you gotta love a girl who, as her session comes to a close, says to me, "C'm 'ere... I'm a hugger" and gives me a big squeeze.  Great news... me, too!

Monday Mixtape - Spellbound

I had the extreme delight of photographing Perla and her oh-so-adorable husband and son a couple of weeks ago... And geez Louise, I am simply dying over this gorgeous young lady!  Can't you just picture her strolling through some old European village, oblivious to the spellbound gazes of men trailing behind her?

Here's my mix of songs that have me spellbound.  I am in love with Bruno Mars' new song from the latest Twilight soundtrack!

Bruno Mars - "It Will Rain"

Florence + The Machine - "Shake It Out"

Pink - "Glitter In The Air"

Mix Tape Monday - A Little Bit Country

So, the new "Footloose" movie came out this past weekend.  Oh, how I loved the original and listened to that album over and over!  I would enjoy seeing the remake, but I doubt Mario will want to go, so I'll have to find a friend... Anyone?  Anyone?  (Bueller? Woops... a different 80's movie reference).

Well, since I've got this adorable little cowboy to share today, I figured country music was in order for my weekly mix... So, I'm throwing in a little "Footloose".  It works, right?  I'm more of a (ahem) "crossover" girl, but there are some country songs that I adore.  And, yes, Olivia Newton-John totally counts!

Seriously love this little guy!

I love that this little monster kept trying to get me during our shoot!

Is he the cutest or what?

And who can resist this young, happy energy?

Lady Antebellum - "Just A Kiss"

Olivia Newton-John - "Please Mr. Please"

Kenny Loggins - "Footloose"

Dixie Chicks - "Cowboy Take Me Away"

Now that I think about it, there are actually a ton of country songs I like!  I may be more of a fan than I thought :)

Monday Mixtape

What is it about guys and Metallica?  That band awakens this uniquely male nostalgia for their head-banging, teenage youth... those carefree days of playing air guitar.  At a recent cocktail party, Mario got so excited when the guitarist played a Metallica song that it sparked a full fledged "bro-mance".  By the end of the evening (and perhaps after a few tequila shots) the two of them were thick as thieves and Mario informed me that this guy is going to play Metallica at his funeral.  Um, hello, morbid!

Mario's turning forty tomorrow, and we celebrated with his closest friends this past weekend.  I went to quite the effort to make the party something special for him.  Forty's a big deal, and so is he!  The party was a success.  My cheesecake bites were to die for.  The tacos were delish.  And I made sure to include plenty of Metallica in the playlist.

Metallica - "Enter Sandman"

Metallica - "Fade To Black"

Metallica - "Nothing Else Matters"
