"Beautiful Boy" - John Lennon
There's just something about a 6-year-old boy. Sean is sweet, funny, sensitive, adventurous, smart, or cuddly at an given moment. This weekend he read through his "Dangerous Book for Boys" book, and marked all the things he wanted to build or try with Dad, and came out to us with questions like, "What's electromagnetism?". He has a running list of all the things he wants to be when he grows up: An astronaut, a "dinosaur digger", an artist, and (the most recently added) a hairstylist. He wants to learn how to French braid. On our trip to Seattle last month, Sean bought a ceramic whistle at the market... and proceeded to blow it literally all day long. On the ferry to Bainbridge, on the monorail, in the hotel lobby, and up the Space Needle. He wore it around his neck for two days straight. He thought he was so cool. It fell on the sidewalk and shattered before we got home. I can't say I miss the whistle, but the memory of him happily tooting along brings a huge smile to my face. He always has a big hug ready for his mommy, and it makes my heart ache a little to know he won't always be my little sweetheart. So I'm trying to soak in as much as I can now...
