Mix Tape Monday

Two days ago, Mario and I surprised the kids by piling into the car for a family road trip... and driving to the airport to hop on a flight to Seattle.   We had already planned the vacation to head up through the Redwoods and visit southern Oregon.  But a few weeks ago, I accompanied Claire's class on a field trip to the airport, and she was one of four kids in her class who raised their hands when asked if anyone had never been on an airplane.  I felt bad... like, my poor underprivileged daughter!  The only time she's been out of the state of California was crossing the state line into Nevada while we were up in Tahoe!  Totally not cool.  So I got home, got a great deal on plane tickets, booked a hotel... And looked forward to seeing my kids' faces when we announced we were getting on an AIRPLANE!

Hence my mix for today, inspired by my free association of "Seattle":  Rain, Starbucks, Sleepless In Seattle, Singles (the movie), grunge, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the 90's, college, Doc Martens... Ah, the 90's... Man, I loved my Doc Martens!

Daughter - Pearl Jam

Under The Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Everlong - Foo Fighters

Sunday Morning - No Doubt

I didn't go on my first airplane until after I was married! Your kids are just fine :-) Enjoy your vacation!
